Watch Matt Harvey on 'The Daily Show' with a smitten Jon Stewart

Watch Matt Harvey on 'The Daily Show'

Jon Stewart's guest on Thursday night's episode of "The Daily Show" was someone that he, a noted Mets fan, was clearly thrilled to speak with: Matt Harvey. Or, as Stewart described him, "the most exciting pitcher in the game today."

The two discussed Harvey and the Mets' early success: "You're 26 years old. You got New York City -- we have not seen a player of your ability in many years. … What does it feel like?" Stewart asked the pitcher.

"I think it's excitement," Harvey replied. "For us and the whole staff, we're excited about the future, we're excited about now. And I think the most important thing is to focus on what we're doing now."

And Stewart asked what it's like to be part of "a really young core" for the Mets: "Is it competitive with the other young pitchers? You got [Noah] Syndergaard out there … throws shutout ball and he hits a home run."

Harvey's response: "The face that I had after the home run …"

"Being a young staff, we try to bring a lot of energy to the clubhouse," Harvey said.

Oh, and the entire interview was conducted with a pillow resting under Harvey's right elbow. Because as Stewart said, "I don't want anything to happen to you … I'm leaving the show -- you're all I have left."
