There was a stray raccoon in the Mets weight room at Citi Field
Mets bullpen coach finds raccoon in weight room
It's been a big weekend for the Mets. All the club did was:
- Trade for Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson
- Promote the team's No. 1 hitting prospect to The Show (Michael Conforto)
- Watch as those three guys combined to go 7-for-12 with two doubles, a home run, a walk and three RBIs in their first game together as Mets
Oh, and the team hung a solid 15 runs on the Dodgers in the process on Saturday.
As if that wasn't enough excitement, the team showed up to the Citi Field clubhouse weight room on Sunday to find a stray raccoon hanging out in there.

Bobby Parnell says the raccoon -- a baby -- ran into a cage and has been apprehended.

Hearing the poor Met that stumbled upon the weight room raccoon was bullpen coach Ricky Bones. In the middle of a set! #Mets

The startling takeaway is that there was a cage that just happened to be available. "I guess they have a problem," Bobby Parnell joked.

One fan with an inside scoop was able to create an artistic rendering of the scene in the Mets clubhouse weight room just moments before the fugitive raccoon gave himself up:

Seriously, though, the Mets issued a statement to explain that the raccoon was only captured temporarily and was released into the wild.
