Jacob deGrom made the AL All-Stars look historically silly on Tuesday

When you think of Jacob deGrom, what's the first thing you think of? That weird lowercase "d" at the beginning of his last name? OK yeah, I guess. His majestic, magical hair that makes you want to listen to that Mario song and braid it all day long?

Yeah, that could be fun too.

But he's also a VERY good pitcher. And in his first All-Star appearance on Tuesday night, the 2014 NL Rookie of the Year struck out the side on just 10 (!) pitches. 

The Mets starter became the first on record in All-Star Game history to set down three batters in so few pitches. He surpassed Brad Lidge's 11-pitch effort in 2005. Jason Kipnis nearly blacked out during his at-bat:


And deGrom's teammate could only express his delight emoji-style:


MLB.com's Anthony DiComo caught up with the 27-year-old after the game -- who seemed pretty speechless himself.
