Miguel Cabrera draws walk, appeals to first base umpire just to be sure
Miggy draws walk, appeals to first to make sure
Miguel Cabrera has been doing a lot of Miguel Cabrera things in the early going of the 2015 season.
For starters, he's working with a .373/.464/.627 slash line that probably has Tigers fans salivating. He's got eight multi-hit games and has jacked two dingers in a game on two occasions, including Wednesday's game against the Twins.
And when you're swinging the club like that, you can get a little tunnel vision while trying to get that bat off your shoulder every chance you get. That's the only thing we can come up with to explain why Miggy appealed down to first base after drawing a walk on Thursday.
Miggy and the Tigers were visiting the red-hot Royals when Cabrera drew a walk in the top of the first while checking his swing. Instead of taking his base, Miggy's initial reaction was to verify with the first-base umpire that he did indeed draw a walk.
The funniest part is that the count was full, so Miggy was accidentally appealing to see if he struck out.
