Miguel Sano attempts to blast baseball through Earth's atmosphere, hits Rays' catwalk instead
Miguel Sano tries to hit baseball out of Rays' dome
The power of Miguel Sano has been well-documented since his callup this season. Just two weeks ago, he attempted to hit one into the clouds -- bringing forth torrents of rain from the Minnesota sky. And during Thursday's Twins-Rays game, the 22-year-old unleashed another momentous blast (just listen to the crack of the bat in the above video). It looked as if it would've torn a hole through the dome/atmosphere, but luckily for Rays fans, the ball knocked off the B-ring catwalk for an RBI double.
If not for the catwalk, Statcast had the would've-been-homer going an estimated 409 feet with an exit velocity of 111 mph. Stadium warnings were posted when appropriate for the rest of the game:
** A Sano Warning has been issued ** Due up 2nd this inning. Seek shelter and avoid catwalks.
