Milo Hamilton honored with gala at Minute Maid Park

Astros broadcaster Milo Hamilton called the final game of his career last month. On Tuesday, players, managers and fans came to honor the Hall of Famer's storied career at Minute Maid Park.

"He has a great wealth of knowledge for the history of the game," former Astros manager Phil Garner said. "He also has done a terrific job over the years of calling the game."

Hamilton is perhaps best known for calling Hank Aaron's 715th career home run. Aaron traveled with his wife to attend and speak at the gala.

Hamilton has also raised more than $35 million for charities, and for his contributions, Houston Mayor Annise Parker proclaimed Tuesday as Milo Hamilton Day.

"I just think that he represents what organizations look for in their broadcasters," former Astros pitcher Nolan Ryan said.
