With the 837th pick in the 2014 MLB Draft, the Padres select: Johnny Manziel, shortstop

From the moment the NFL season ended, there was rampant speculation about which team would draft Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel. Some theorized the Cowboys would be interested. Others thought the Texans might look to bring the local hero aboard.
And then, we finally got our answer. It was the Cleveland Br-

Wait, what?
Johnny Football Johnny Baseball was a shortstop in high school, but hasn't played the game in an organized manner since; therefore, it seems as though this pick is a bit more Russell Wilson than Kris Bryant.
Regardless, the Padres always do their homework on their potential draftees, and Manziel was no exception.
Last year, San Diego invited Manziel to throw out the first pitch before a Nationals-Padres game. He accepted the invitation, and took the opportunity to show off his elite arm -- a perfect tool for a shortstop:

He even decided to try his hand at some hitting to show that he's more than just a glove-first player:
And lest you think he'd be uncomfortable in a baseball uniform, just know he's been wearing them since Little League:
