MLB might ban 'The Old Jeff Nelson,' and Jeff Nelson does not approve

The fake-to-third-and-throw-to-first move, which draws boos literally every time a pitcher on a visiting team attempts it, might be a balk by the start of the 2013 season. MLB is considering instituting a rule change (it was approved at the recent Owner's Meetings and awaiting ratification by the MLBPA) regarding the move which was named, by Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay, "The Old Jeff Nelson."

The former Mariners, Yankees, Rangers and White Sox reliever had an affinity for the move despite admitting he picked off no more than two runners in his career with it. MLB.com's Hot Stove interviewed the man himself on Wednesday, and found -- shockingly -- that he's not in favor of illegalizing his favorite maneuver.
