New MLS squad NYCFC to play inaugural season at Yankee Stadium

The Yankees teamed up with English Premier League side Manchester City to bring a new MLS team to New York City, and on Monday, the team announced where the new club would play its home games:

The one-and-only Yankee Stadium.

The team, New York City FC, will play their inaugural season at the Stadium while plans for a more permanent venue in New York are finalized. The result is that New York's newest sports team gets to play in one of the most iconic venues in sports -- not too bad for a temporary home, huh?

According to Yankees COO Lonn Trost, the transformation from baseball field to soccer pitch takes about three days, so NYCFC's schedule will have to fit into the Bombers' usual summer plans. The result, of course, will be more opportunities to visit Yankee Stadium, which is always a good thing (especially if you like ridiculous hamburgers).
