Mo'ne Davis lasts only 2 1/3 innings, but still strikes out six in Little League World Series loss

Mo'ne Davis lasts 2 1/3 innings, strikes out six

After becoming the first girl to ever throw a shutout in a Little League World Series qualifer and then following that up by becoming the first girl to throw a shutout in the actual Little League World Series, fans were expecting big things from 13-year-old Mo'ne Davis on Wednesday night.

Unfortunately, going up against a Nevada lineup that had scored 25 runs through their first two games of the tournament, Davis wasn't able to keep her scoreless streak intact. She surrendered three runs on six hits in 2 1/3 innings before moving from the mound to first base. Of course, Davis still showed off her impressive arsenal, striking out six batters in her time on the mound.

Though Davis' Taney squad would go on to lose by a score of 8-1, they can still advance to the US Championships if they defeat Illinois on Thursday night. Little League rules will prevent Davis from pitching in that game, but she will be able to pitch on Saturday if Taney advances.
