Nationals owner calls newly-mustachioed Danny Espinosa 'Yosemite Sam' now

Nationals owner calls Danny Espinosa Yosemite Sam

Those of you who prefer your baseballers to have ridiculous facial hair have a new favorite MLB star and his name is Danny Espinosa.

Espinosa

Yes, that thing growing on his upper lip and along the sides of his mouth is real human hair.

On Tuesday afternoon, Nationals principal owner Mark D. Lerner took to the Internet to update Nats fans back in D.C. about the goings on at Spring Training down in Viera, Fla., including Espinosa's new nickname:

"You've all seen Danny Espinosa, right? Yosemite Sam, as we call him - just one of the names they've come up with in the clubhouse."

Really. The owner of a professional baseball team is cool enough to get the joke growing on his infielder's face, to the point that he nicknamed the guy after an infamous cartoon character. Though we're guessing Lerner is hoping that Espinosa and his teammates play ball more like Bugs Bunny than his vertically-challenged, hot-headed nemesis.
