Meet Nelia Peralta, the latest girl to dominate youth baseball

Nelia Peralta latest girl to dominate youth baseball

Meet Nelia Peralta, a young girl making her presence felt as a part of youth baseball's growing female movement.

Peralta

There's Mo'ne Davis, "Knuckleball Princess" Chelsea Baker, Melissa Mayeux who became the first female athlete invited to the MLB European Elite Camp, the Baseball for All girls who dominated a United States Specialty Sports Association tourney last year, and now Peralta, who pitched four no-hit innings -- and went 1-for-2 with a sac fly and two RBIs -- in the USSSA's 13u championship. Her Team Siege won handily, 13-0.

This isn't Peralta's first chance to play against the boys, and it's not the first time she's proven that she's better than them, either. Over the summer, she led the Okeeheelee Baseball Association's Major Division with a .609 batting average. Oh, and she was atop the pitchers' leaderboard, too, with an ERA of 0.89. She was tied for fourth with three home runs. What a slouch.
