The Yankees are heading back to Broadway in 'Bronx Bombers'

Prepare yourself for the most New York thing ever:

There will be a new Broadway play about the Yankees.

Bronx Bombers, produced by the same team as sports-centric Broadway shows Lombardi and Magic/Bird, looks at the history of the Yankees through some of the club's biggest stars: Babe Ruth, Yogi Berra, Lou Gehrig, Reggie Jackson, Mickey Mantle, Thurman Munson, Billy Martin, Joe DiMaggio and Derek Jeter.

Fun fact -- Babe Ruth will be played by CJ Wilson! OK, it's not that CJ Wilson, but still.

Of course, the Yankees have been immortalized on stage before -- most notably in the Tony Award-winning musical Damn Yankees (which is not really about the Yankees, but I digress) -- but this time, the focus is more on history than song-and-dance.

Not that we wouldn't love to see a heartfelt duet between The Yankee Clipper and The Captain...
