Nick Swisher and everyone else on the Internet are dumping water on their heads to strike out ALS

Former ball player with ALS starts Ice Challenge

By now, your Facebook and Twitter feeds are clogged with seemingly normal people dumping buckets of ice water on their heads. This version of the #IceBucketChallenge was started by Pete Frates, a 29-year-old former Boston College baseball player who was diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Basically, this Ice Bucket Challenge serves as a means of using social media to raise awareness of ALS and encouraging people into donating to worthy cause. Bostonians in particular have taken to the trend as Wally the Green Monster got involved on Wednesday:

The trend is hardly isolated to Beantown, though. Over in New Jersey, MLB.com's Lindsay Berra and (a bronze statue of) her grandfather joined in on the fun.

Not to be left out in Bro-hio, Indians first baseman Nick Swisher doused himself with freezing water too.

Mets pitcher Matt Harvey didn't want to be left out, offering his own take on the phenomenon.

If you're up for supporting a charitable cause and/or enjoying a nice, refreshing ice shower on a hot August day, be sure to take the #IceBucketChallenge and share the moment with us over @Cut4. PICS OR DIDN'T HAPPEN!
