1 game, 0 at-bats: Happy Birthday, Moonlight Graham

Archibald "Moonlight" Graham made his debut for the New York Giants on June 29, 1905. The 28-year-old was subbed into the outfield in the bottom of the eighth inning, but never got a chance to bat -- and would never have the opportunity again. That day would be Graham's first and last appearance in the big leagues. His unusual career has since been made famous in the 1989 movie Field of Dreams.

In the same year his pro baseball pursuit ended, the one-game wonder went on to graduate from the University of Maryland with a degree in medicine. "Doc" Graham became the Chisolm, Minn. town physician for the next 44 years.

No matter how much success he had later on in life, you have to think Graham would've loved to step into the batter's box at least one time -- just to see if he had what it took. His actual birthday is disputed -- it's somewhere between Nov. 9-12 -- so we'll send out good wishes today: Happy Birthday, Moonlight. Hope you're playing ball wherever you may be:
