Nuggets center JaVale McGee will star in a reality show with his mom, and we could not be more excited
The Denver Nuggets' JaVale McGee may be basketball's weirdest star. Needless to say, we're obsessed with him. Today we learned that McGee and his mother Pamela will have their very own reality show, Millionaire Mama's Boy, on the Oprah Winfrey Network. For those uninitiated to the cult of JaVale, here's why you'll have to watch.
McGee is one of the best centers in the NBA, but he is also an insane person. Every once in a while, this has a detrimental effect on his performance.
Maybe even a little more often than "once in a while."
But it's his off-the-court oddball charm -- amply demonstrated in all corners of the Internet -- that will make this show reality TV gold. Consider McGee's (intentionally and unintentionally) hilarious alterego Pierre:
JaVale's Twitter is also a surrealist goldmine:
I ask all the important rhetorical questions! Do I not? *that was rhetorical*- JaVale McGee (@JaValeMcGee34) May 19, 2012
...and he has an unusual habit of retweeting himself:
RT @javalemcgee34 GOODNIGHT- JaVale McGee (@JaValeMcGee34) April 4, 2013
The best part of all this? JaVale may actually be completely upstaged by his mother. Pamela McGee is a former WNBA star and a force of nature in her own right -- and, when she's unhappy, her facial expressions are the stuff of nightmares (speaking from personal experience).
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to buy a DVR, and also a second DVR (emergency back-up).
