On Johnny Bench's birthday, let's remember 'The Baseball Bunch'

Johnny Bench turned 65 on Friday, and other than being a two-time MVP, first-ballot Hall of Famer and owner of unsettlingly large hands, he was also known for hosting The Baseball Bunch.

The show, which began in 1980 when Bench was still playing for the Reds, ran until 1985. It also featured Tommy Lasorda as a turban-wearing "Dugout Wizard," MLB player guest appearances in every episode, a ragtag group of kids from the Tucson, Ariz. area and, perhaps most crucially, the Famous San Diego Chicken.

What do you think -- could this syndicated Saturday morning staple be revived today? And if so, who should host it?
