On Walt Disney's 113th birthday, here he is playing baseball
Here's video of Walt Disney playing baseball
Since we're all intimately familiar with the Disney classic Air Bud: 7th Inning Fetch, it seems silly to remind you that Walt Disney was a big baseball fan. But, if we're going to remind you, Walt Disney's 113th birthday seems like as good a time as any. D23, the official Disney fan club, not long ago released a short YouTube video detailing Disney's connection with America's pastime.
Topics covered include the Angels, whom the Walt Disney Company purchased in 1999 (and sold in 2004) and baseball-themed animated works from Disney's early days. The video also includes stills of Walt Disney himself taking a few cuts from the right side of the plate and some basic history about the sport's inclusion in Disney shorts and features.
Basically, baseball is the only thing that's as quintessentially American as Disney. Except maybe apple pie and the fact that Hollywood keeps churning out Transformers movies.
