Orioles replace rude, catcher-repelling on-deck circles with friendly, helpful chalk

On Wednesday night, Caleb Joseph had an encounter with a rubber on-deck circle that did not go so well:

Joseph was unhurt, but the on-deck mats were banished and replaced by good old chalk:

Chalk won't knock you flat on your butt. Chalk won't make you question your ability to stay on your own two feet as the planet spins ever more rapidly. Chalk will make you a cup of tea and tell you that everything's going to be just fine. Chalk will buy you a cupcake on your birthday and chalk will rearrange chalk's schedule to help you move.
