Phillies commemorate 40-year anniversary of tightrope walk across Veterans Stadium
Two tightrope walkers were at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday. One was Nik Wallenda, scion of the Flying Wallendas family of stunt performers, who recently walked across Niagara Falls on a wire 200 feet above ground level.
The other was the Phillie Phanatic, who had some difficulty staying on his rope -- even at zero feet above ground level. Wallenda showed up to offer some advice, and also to commemorate an anniversary for his family and the Phillies. Forty years ago this month, Nik's great-grandfather, Karl Wallenda, walked on a wire across Veterans Stadium.
