Chris Archer surprises youth players at their game

Joe Maddon told the Rays to check into the ballpark later than usual on Saturday, giving right-hander Chris Archer the opportunity to spend the afternoon as a fan.

Archer drove over to Burg Baseball in South St. Petersburg unannounced to play catch with some of the 13- and 14-year-olds and watch their sophomore-division game.

Burg Baseball, Inc., is a non-profit organization that provides free baseball programs for youth players in St. Petersburg. Archer also invited the Burg Heat squad out to Tropicana Field to watch him pitch on Sunday:
