D-backs reliever loses bet on K-State-Kansas basketball game, suffers the consequences

D-backs reliever loses bet on college basketball game

It seemed like such a good idea to D-backs reliever Brad Ziegler at the time. His Kansas Jayhawks were heavy favorites to beat their rival Kansas State Wildcats on Monday.

So, over breakfast Monday morning Ziegler, a diehard KU fan, proposed a bet to fellow pitcher Evan Marshall, who attended K-State. If Kansas won, Marshall would have to wear Jayhawks gear and if K-State won, Ziegler would don the purple gear of the Wildcats.

Ziegler was so convinced that the Jayhawks were going to win, he gave Marshall five points.

However, the unranked Wildcats upset the eighth-ranked Jayhawks, 70-63. It was just the fifth time the Wildcats had beaten their rivals in their past 54 meetings.

So, there was Ziegler Tuesday morning sporting a purple K-State hoodie and shorts … much to the delight of Marshall.
