Earlier on Tuesday night, Joe Maddon won the Baseball Writers' Association of America National League Manager of the Year Award. It's a well-deserved honor after a season spent devouring hamburgers and leading the Cubs to the NLCS. But it's also a time for reflection, on a career spent reaching this pinnacle and all the stops along the way. One of those stops: the Salem Angels of the now-defunct Class A Northwestern League. Maddon managed the team in 1982, where he won -- wait for it -- Manager of the Year.
Why do we bring this up, you ask? Because there just so happens to be some photographic evidence, and it's everything you could've hoped for:
