Willie Mays treated himself to spare ribs after hitting four home runs in one game

Throwback Photo: Mays eats ribs after 4-homer game

Baseball may be over for the year, but there is one really great thing to look forward to in November: Thanksgiving, the day when you can eat as much food as you want to and no one will judge you. Very rarely will there be days like this (no matter what mama said) … but if you happen to have a day where you hit four home runs in a single game, we're pretty sure you can do whatever you want.

Just look at Willie Mays' example. In the Giants' April 30, 1961, game against the Braves, Mays went deep four times, twice off starter Lew Burdette and once each off relievers Seth Morehead and Don McMahon.

Even though Hank Aaron hit two home runs of his own, the Giants won, 14-4. Then, as you can see above, the Say Hey Kid enjoyed a light snack while he talked to the press about his incredible feat.

So, this Thanksgiving Day, chow down on all your favorite foods like you just became one of only 16 players in MLB to hit four home runs in a single game, even if all you did was walk a few feet from the couch to the dining room table. That's what the holidays are all about.
