Take a look at the time Yankee Stadium held a pregame barbershop quartet singing competition
In 1946, the Yankees had a barbershop quartet contest

There is a long tradition of baseball and the popular music of its day coming together. Demi Lovato performed during All-Star Weekend this year, for example. Similarly, in 1946, Yankee Stadium held a pregame barbershop quartet singing competition before the Bombers took on the Philadelphia A's.
The contest was, according to the New York Times' game recap from June 29, 1946, a "way of regaling the early arrivals with a new McPhailian touch" -- a reference to Larry MacPhail, the Yanks' owner and general manager at the time. Those are the winners pictured above, and they topped stiff competition who all had splendidly old-timey names:
And apparently, each of the competing quartets had won previous district competitions around the city -- so this was serious business.
The game was pretty good, too. The Yankees won on an eighth-inning home run by Charlie Keller, described by the Times as "a rugged and robust individualist."
This season, maybe the Yanks will host another barbershop quartet contest to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Flatfoots' win.
