Pigeon travels to Citi Field to meet Greg Bird, probably saddened he's not an actual bird

Pigeon runs bases backwards to meet Greg Bird

Suspend your disbelief for a second and imagine you're a bird, but one who understands English and follows baseball news. When not hanging out by a park bench, you probably spend your days eating crumbs off the sidewalk and flipping through box scores. One day, while perusing the sports section, you notice that the Yankees have called up first baseman Greg Bird.

"A bird!" you think. "This is my chance! Maybe I, too, could be come a Major Leaguer." But first you must head to the park and meet this Greg Bird fellow. After all, is he a pigeon? A chickadee? Perhaps even a giant ibis? He could be your ticket to a Major League contract and a spot under the table at all the finest restaurants.

Assuming all of that is correct, this pigeon that showed up during Sunday's Yankees - Mets game was probably very disappointed. Running the bases backward, the pigeon headed straight for Bird -- only to learn that Bird is a man and not a member of the Aves class

Sorry, little guy. Keep on dreaming. Have to assume the hot dog crumbs were worth the trip, though.
