Rays wives squeak by Marlins wives to win annual charity softball game
In their third annual softball game, the Rays Wives beat the Marlins Wives, 12-11, on a walk-off hit by Aly Shelton (hitting coach Derek Shelton's wife) that scored Sarah Fuld (Sam Fuld's wife) from first base on Monday at Tropicana Field.
David Price's girlfriend Tiffany Smith, who was celebrating her birthday, made the 2012 Cy Young winner proud when she led off the game with a solo homer to center field.
The win means the Rays Wives get to keep the highly-coveted Citrus Cup in St. Petersburg for another year, and they now have a 2-1 edge in the series after a 14-2 rout last year at Marlins Park. Both teams used the game as a way to raise money for their respective charities. The Rays Wives played on behalf of Autism Speaks and the Marlins Wives on behalf of Shake-a-Leg Miami.
