Rick Monday is finally becoming a bobblehead
On April 25, 1976, two protesters ran onto the field at Dodger Stadium and attempted to light an American flag on fire. Cubs outfielder Rick Monday ran towards them and grabbed the flag just in the nick of time.
It was truly an amazing moment, not just in Dodgers history, but in baseball history.
Monday eventually joined the Dodgers organization and smashed a game-deciding two-run home run in the 1981 NLCS to send the Dodgers to the World Series, an event that is still referred to in Montreal as "Blue Monday."
Next season, Monday, along with nine others, including Vin Scully, Matt Kemp, Sandy Koufax and even Magic Johnson, will be honored with his very own bobblehead. Just another way to show that Monday bleeds Dodger blue.
