Prepare your stomachs, Royals fans: World Series food is coming

Royals unveil new Fall food options for World Series

When it comes to food, the Royals have an abundance of riches -- offering up items like brisket nachos and spicy peanut butter burgers all season at Kauffman Stadium.

But as Kansas City prepares to start the World Series on Tuesday night against the Giants, the team knew they needed to up the gastric ante. And what better way to celebrate the team's deep-October play than by fully embracing autumn? So strap on your winter puffy vest and start salivating because the flavors of fall are just ahead.

To keep you warm, the team will be serving a butternut squash bisque with a spiced bacon pretzel stick and a stick-to-your-ribs smoked crown chili filled with burnt ends, white beans and cooked with an IPA. That's right, the Royals have found a way to sneak your ballpark favorites like pretzels and beer -- not to mention some hometown BBQ flavors -- into gourmet food.

Where's the pretzel stick, you ask? "Must not be that impressive if it wasn't photographed." Oh, my cynical friend, you are so wrong:

Bacon

That's right -- there's enough bacon in there that the pretzel stick has to be tied together with rope!

And if you're the type that sneaks into the kitchen after everyone else is asleep on Thanksgiving for one more round of pilgrim-inspired goodness, the Royals have the sandwich for you. The Turkey Gobbler combines roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing and warm gravy into a culinary delight of endless pleasure. Finally, Thanksgiving and the World Series combined as one:

Even though you'll be stuffed far past the point that any medical doctor would be comfortable with, you'll still need to munch on something sweet. You know, to aid digestion. Hence, the caramel apple:

Don't think that the team has forgotten that you need to wash the food down, because they've got you covered there, too. With evening temperatures expected to dip below 50 degrees this week, you'll be sipping on some hot chocolate or muddled hot cider. Even better, you can add some rum to the cider or a bit of peppermint schnapps, rumchata or chocolate mint liqueur to your cocoa to steel yourself for the stress-filled late innings.

All the special World Series items will be available at Kauffman Stadium's Harvest Market stand in left field. And if you're not quite ready to dive face-first into fall, the Royals also expect to serve 800 pounds of brisket, 500 pounds of pulled pork and 200 racks of ribs during each Fall Classic game at the K.
