Sabermetrician Silver predicts election and comes up perfect
Remember Nate Silver? Back in 2002, he developed PECOTA (Player Empirical Comparison and Optimization Test Algorithm), a sabermetric system used for predicting Major League Baseball player performance.
It's the number system you use to choose your fantasy baseball team at the beginning of every season. It's the reason you may have selected Emilio Bonifacio over Yunel Escobar. It's how Jonah Hill's character in Moneyball got a job.
Well, Mr. Silver also developed a forecasting system for the political realm. Using polls, ad statistics and pure math, he correctly predicted the split of Red and Blue states on Tuesday night. It was a perfect game.
Once again, science proves its worth.
