Two famously sad Mets fans were in the stands to celebrate their team's big NLDS win

Famously sad Mets fans now celebrating NLDS win

Sure, cheering on the Mets right now is mostly a blur of bat flips and public displays of affection, but it wasn't always this way. As in life, every fan base must experience its ups and downs; the good, inevitably, comes with some not-so-good. And for the Amazins, those down times were encapsulated by a couple of very, very sad fans.

First, after the 2007 Mets were eliminated from postseason contention by the Marlins on the last day of the season, poor Seth Fleischauer could hardly contain his grief:

Then, when the Marlins denied the Mets in Game 162 again the following year, not even the silliest of orange wigs could console a young Spencer Wisch:

But take heart, for thanks to the power of the parakeet, our story has a happy ending. Both Fleischauer and Wisch stuck with their favorite team, and they were in the stands together at Dodger Stadium on Thursday night to watch the Mets take Game 5 of the NLDS.  Behold, the transformation from Sad Mets Fans to Happy Mets Fans is complete:

What lies beyond "happy" on the emotional spectrum, you ask? Can there be an Overjoyed Mets Fan? There's only one way to find out: The Mets will take on the Cubs in Game 1 of the NLCS on Saturday at 8 ET on TBS.
