Samurai Japan shortstop Hayato Sakamoto uses Frozen's 'Let It Go' as walk-up song

Japan shortstop uses 'Frozen' walk-up song

If you thought Frozen was popular in the U.S. then you clearly haven't realized how big it is in Japan.

The Oscar-winning Disney film shattered Japanese sales records, selling 1.51 million Blu-Ray copies in its first week. Those are Taylor Swift numbers. And that was after it topped the Japanese box office for 16 consecutive weeks.

So, yeah, you could say it's popular over there.

Taking particular note of that popularity is Yomiuri Giants shortstop Hayato Sakamoto. In 2008, Sakamoto became the first player since Hideki Matsui to make an NPB Opening Day start before his 20th birthday. Now, he's playing shortstop for Samurai Japan in the Japan All-Star Series and, yes, he's using "Let It Go" from Frozen as his walk-up song.

And it must be working because he's got himself a .300 average in the series and hit a big two-run home run early in Japan's Game 3 victory.
