Giants see the Royals' dominant bullpen, raise them one Yusmeiro Petit

Dominant Petit gets first reliever hit in 21 years

A lot of attention has been given to the Royals' bullpen this postseason, and with good reason -- Finnegan, Herrera, Davis, and Holland have been lights out.

But let's take a moment and appreciate their Giants' counterparts and one in particular: Yusmeiro Petit.

In the 2014 postseason, Petit had given up a mere two hits in nine innings, adding in 11 strikeouts for good measure. He made his first World Series appearance in Game 4, entering down 4-1 during the fourth inning and leaving after the 6th with two hits allowed, two strikeouts, and a 7-4 lead.

Petit ultimately earned the win for Game 4, thanks to pitches like this doozy to Lorenzo Cain to end the fourth inning:

The 29-year-old also became the first relief pitcher to get a hit in a World Series game since 1993 with a single in the bottom of the fourth, his first of the postseason.

In a postgame interview, Hunter Pence called Petit the "unsung hero" of the Giants' postseason. So while the Royals' might have the law firm of Herrera, Davis, and Holland, we're pretty sure the Giants are cool with their one Yusmeiro.
