Sorry, world, but Omar Vizquel's new painting proves that he's better than you in every way
Vizquel's painting proves he's the best at everything
It's hard to keep a healthy image of yourself in a world that's constantly trying to reduce you to a trembling fleshy mess of tear-stained fast food wrappers. And just when you think that you've managed to find that foothold, perhaps in your ability to cook pancakes or sing karaoke, Omar Vizquel comes and finishes you off.
Because Vizquel is the very definition of a renaissance man in that he is more impressive than every single person who was part of the Renaissance.
Not only was Vizquel one of the slickest fielding shortstops in baseball history while he was playing:
But he's not too shabby in retirement either.
And that's ignoring that his smooth gloveplay hid an even smoother line on the canvas. That's right, Vizquel is an accomplished painter.
On Monday, the shortstop revealed his newest masterpiece with this impressionist portrait of a lion:

But it's not just a painting of a lion. Look at the use of bright colors and how the canvas is dotted with points and intersecting lines -- this is an image meant to feel alive and vibrant. Vizquel knows that art is not just about creating static images, but it's also about transmitting mood, emotion and feeling to the viewer. I'm pretty sure this feeling is "I will never be as talented as Omar Vizquel."
Oh yeah, and his singing voice is pretty rad, too. Sorry, everyone in the world, but you just can't match up.
