Starting Nine: Athletic achievement

Many things are happening -- on Cut4, in baseball and out there in the rest of the world. Here are nine you need to know about today:
1. Lots and lots of free baseball
It took more than nine innings to decide Monday's Angels-A's matchup. In fact, it took more than nine extra innings to decide Monday's Angels-A's matchup. The marathon game came to an end in the bottom of the 19th inning, when Brandon Moss homered off Barry Enright -- six and a half hours after first pitch.
2. Mat Latos goes streaking
The Reds starter threw six scoreless innings in Monday night's 2-1 win over St. Louis -- extending his current streak to 17 straight frames without a run. Keep the pizzas coming.
3. In a stadium far, far away
The Toledo Mud Hens will wear a Chewbacca jersey in honor of Star Wars on May the Fourth (get it?). We're counting on R2-D2 uniforms for next year.
4. All you need is glove
...or is it? Our own Ian Kay and Dan Wohl debated the merits of bringing your glove to the ballpark. Which side are you on?
5. The Selfie of Dorian Gray
In honor of reporter Kelly Nash's infamous selfie (photobombed by a baseball nearly colliding with her head), we rounded up five equally terrifying self-portraits. You'll never look at Ricky Gervais the same way again.
6. When the moon hits your eye like a big walk-off pie
That's amore Eric Sogard. The A's infielder's eyewear offered at least some protection from a Josh Reddick pie attack.
7. It's a dog eat dog world
From the Charleston RiverDogs' Pickledog to the D-backs' Sonoran Dog, ballpark hot dogs have never been better. It's a great time to be a baseball fan -- especially a hungry one.
8. Still in Sac-town
The NBA relocation committee announced on Monday that it would formally recommend for the Kings to remain in Sacramento, rather than move to Seattle as ownership originally planned. Kings fans are very, very happy.
9. Collins' announcement applauded
Celtics center Jason Collins came out publicly on Monday, becoming the first active player in a major American team sport to announce that he's gay. Here's the reaction from the baseball world.
