Stone Gossard trades his guitar for a baseball

Pearl Jam guitarist, environmentalist and Mariners fan Stone Gossard threw out the first pitch as Seattle hosted Forterra Night on Saturday at Safeco Field.

Forterra started C3 (Carbon Capturing Companies), and Gossard explained: “We basically put trees back in the ground to mitigate carbon that Pearl Jam puts up in the air when we tour.”

For every ticket sold to Saturday’s game through a special online offer, the Mariners will donate a seedling to C3.
