On Ted Williams' birthday, we remember his walk-off homer in the 1941 All-Star Game

Ted Williams, arguably the greatest hitter in baseball history, was born on this day in 1918. Williams spent 19 years in the bigs, winning two AL MVPs, racking up 521 home runs and posting a .344/.482/.634 career slash line. He also spent some of his prime years (ages 24-26, 33-34) serving admirably in the military.

But one of the happiest moments of his long career had to be the walk-off home run he hit in the 1941 All-Star Game. The 22-year-old was so excited that he galloped around the bases. Williams would go on to hit .406 that season -- a feat almost unimaginable today.
