Ten facts you may not know about Mr. Met

Here are 10 things you may not know about the Mets' beloved mascot:

1) Mr. Met’s number is 00. The only other player in Mets history to wear that number was Tony Clark in 2003.
2) In 2007, Mr. Met became the 14th member elected into the Mascot Hall of Fame.
3) Casey Stengel first spotted Mr. Met in 1963 and invited him to join the Mets organization when they moved to Shea Stadium in '64.
4) Forbes Magazine named him the No.1 mascot in sports in 2012.
5) Mr. Met has made several guest spots on "Late Night" with Conan O’Brien, along with multiple commercials for "SportsCenter."
6) He joins Mr. Red, Rosie Red and Mr. Redlegs from the Cinncinati Reds organization, and Homer from the Braves, as the only mascots with baseball-shaped heads. Nnone of the five are related.
7) Lady Met is Mr. Met’s companion. Although she doesn’t appear as often as Mr. Met, she starred alongside him in a "SportsCenter" commercial.
8) Mr. Met is believed to have been the first mascot to appear in real-life form for a Major League team.
9) His height is listed as 6-foot-10, which is a stitch taller than a standard doorway, and his weight is “top heavy."
10) Mr. Met’s portrait appears on “Mets Money," which is redeemable throughout Citi Field.
