The BP hits of Coyotes howled across Chase Field on Saturday

No ice, no rink, no problem. Even though they were out of their element, several Phoenix Coyotes players were still able to show off their athletic talent during D-backs batting practice Saturday afternoon.

Coyotes team captain Shane Doan, forward Raffi Torres and goaltenders Mike Smith and Jason LaBarbera came out to Chase Field to take some swings before Arizona's game against the Cubs.

Even though we won’t see them taking the field any time soon, the Coyotes players showed that a hockey stick isn’t the only piece of lumber they can swing around.

The highlight of the day came from Smith, who laced four balls into the left-field bleachers amidst a wave of cheers from D-backs players. Torres also managed to hit one out.

“Smith was blasting them out there,” Torres said. “I’m just glad I was able to put one in the seats.”
