The City of Montreal names a street after Gary Carter

From 1974-84, and again in 1992, Gary Carter was a fixture behind home plate for the Montreal Expos. And now, the Hall of Famer will be a permanent part of the city that helped jumpstart his big league career.

Montreal has agreed to name a section of a main street after Carter. The sign will sit adjacent to Jarry Park -- the Expos (and Gary's) home before Olympic Stadium.

"Gary was here for over 10 years and Gary was synonymous of the Expos the time he was here," French radio broadcaster Jacques Doucet told CBC News. "His smile was contagious and he was one heck of a ball player."

And wherever he is, I'm sure Kid is grateful.
