The Orioles scored all the runs on Sunday and set an odd franchise record in the process

Orioles set an odd record by scoring 18 runs Sunday

If you're not familliar with the game of baseball, allow us to let you in on a little pro tip: the team that scores the most runs wins. The Orioles won on Sunday because they definitely scored the most runs.

In an 18-7 victory over their division-rival Red Sox, the O's managed to score runs in six of their eight offensive innings (they didn't need to hit in the home half of the ninth). They scored in six consecutive frames and scored six runs in an inning twice.

The O's notched 20 hits in the afternoon with nine players contributing to the cause, seven of them posting multi-hit games. In the process, they set a franchise record for most runs scored in a game against the Red Sox.

Perhaps most impressively, they did so with just one home run. And one of the best ways to score runs without homers is with hits ... lots of them.

For what it's worth, the Orioles' franchise mark for runs scored in a game is 23, which came in a contest with the Blue Jays in 2000.
