The Spider-Man of Fenway Park: Meet the man who scaled the Green Monster on a giant wreath
Meet the Spider-Man of Fenway Park

The Spider-Man of Fenway Park. That's what you could call John Coyne, who found himself dangling from the Green Monster on Tuesday.
For Coyne, a sign hanger with USA Sign, it marked just another day on the job. He stood on top of a giant wreath suspended from the Green Monster in preparation for the Red Sox Christmas at Fenway event on Dec. 13.
"I think only a bird has that view," Coyne laughed. "I'm sure I'm the first to be walking on the Green Monster like that."

He's been working with the Red Sox since 2002, maintaining all the signage. Sometimes that means climbing and re-roping flag poles high above Fenway.
"I've been all over Fenway, probably to parts the owners haven't even been to," said Coyne.
For this year's event, Coyne and his team are in charge of hanging decorations to make sure Fenway looks like a winter wonderland.
While Coyne, a lifelong Red Sox fan, is at the ballpark for 40 to 60 games a year, he's also there just as much during the offseason, preparing for other events like the NHL Winter Classic.
"I just love being at Fenway," Coyne said. "I've had some crazy gigs, but this has been sensational. I wouldn't have believed this if you would have told me I'd be doing these things when I was younger."
No matter the event, Coyne loves the challenges that come with working at MLB's oldest ballpark.
"I'm always looking for new heights to climb," said Coyne.
He can now check the Green Monster off that list.
