This Day in Postseaon History: A World Series perfect game, Junior ran for home and Keith faceplanted

When you woke up this morning, you may have felt a little ... different. Perhaps you felt like it was just allergies or that you need to ask for your Chinese food to be made without MSG.

But no, what you were feeling was the very simple, elemental truth of postseason baseball. And Oct. 8 is a day filled with mind-bending, heart-wrenching, gut-punching baseball.

Like in 1956. The residents of the Bronx probably headed off to Yankee Stadium to see an exciting Game 5, but were completely unaware that they were going to see something that had never happened and, at the time of this writing, has never happened again.

And no, I don't mean that the Yankees served a churro-wrapped hot dog.

Instead, Don Larsen took the mound and after setting down all 27 Dodgers batters he faced in the Yankees, 2-0 win.
