Todd Helton's moving Coors Field retirement ceremony, as told by GIFs
After 17 years in Colorado, Rockies legend Todd Helton announced only last week that he will retire at the close of this season. Before Helton's final home game on Wednesday, the team celebrated their beloved first baseman in an on-field ceremony.
Who better than Helton's daughter, Tierney Faith, to throw the first pitch? (And who better than her dad to catch it?)
The Rockies presented Helton with a retirement gift that may be an MLB first: a horse. Its saddle is inscribed "CR."
His loyal fans honored him with one last standing ovation.
Even college buddy Peyton Manning was on hand to show his appreciation.
Tierney Faith and her sister Gentry Grace took home first base as a fitting souvenir.
But it was Todd himself who provided the best reminder of what Rockies fans will be missing next season, by hitting a home run in his very first at-bat of the evening's bout with the Red Sox.
