Transfer news: Has Yasiel Puig joined Real Madrid?

Dodgers fans probably didn't think they had to worry about Yasiel Puig leaving the club to go play professional soccer, especially after the January transfer window closed with nary a peep from the English tabloids. But with Puig having shown that he can dominate in the Majors, perhaps he's now looking for a new challenge in the world of European football.

Earlier this week, Puig posted two videos showing off his impressive ball-handling skills. At first it seemed like the kind of a thing a player would do to stay loose during Spring Training and no one thought anything of it.

But on Sunday, Puig posed in his brand-new Real Madrid jersey, complete with "Y. Puig" on the back. Though there wasn't a press conference, should we take this as a sign that the team has agreed to a pre-contract for next fall?

It wouldn't be shocking. After all, with the Spanish giants only in first place by four points in La Liga despite their team being filled with players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and World Cup-hero James Rodriguez, they could surely be looking to add some further star power. And there are worse options than a player like Puig, who exudes power, pace and creativity from the right field or right wing back positions.dakota.gardner[4:11 PM]

Puig

Should Puig join the club, it would be the result of some long-term recruiting from three-time Golden Boot winner Ronaldo. Having made his original pitch to Puig in the summer of 2013, it appears that the right fielder is now ready to make the move.

Puig

I guess the only other question remaining is if Puig's at-bat music will now be the Champions League theme.
