UPDATE: Mark Teixeira has always told us he wants to rock ... on Tuesday, he finally did
We already know Mark Teixeira loves '80s audio playback formats, and it seems the Yankees first baseman -- who walks up to Twisted Sister's "I Wanna Rock" -- fits into the '80s music scene itself, too. Although none of its regular cast's hair would be accepted in pinstripes, "Rock of Ages" accepted Teixeira for a one-night-only cameo during its Tuesday performance.
Tex did not "risk the reputation of the show" by singing solo, but he did revel in performing in the jukebox musical built around the decade of his birth. "I was born in 1980 and rocking out as a young pup in Severna Park, Md., to some of the great '80s songs," he told the New York Daily News. "It was a good time."
Here are the five best photos of Teixeira's night on the Great White Way:
Suzyn Waldman confronted Tex about his performance at the recent Yankees Hot Stove forum, and things got a little hairy.
