Batted ball ricochets off Marlins pitcher's back, is caught by shortstop for the out
Baseball is a game of instinct, and during Saturday's Astros-Marlins matchup, two separate Miami players showed off some pretty quick wits.
In the third inning, with nobody out and runners at the corners, Marlins starter Tom Koehler tossed a 1-2 pitch that Astros DH Chris Carter launched back to the pitcher's mound. Koehler tried to get out of the way, but could only manage to turn his back before being struck by the ball, ricocheting it high into the air.
Thankfully, Koehler was uninjured. Also thankfully, Adeiny Hechavarria managed to track the ball down and catch it for the out:
Not only was Koehler fit to continue, but he also struck out the next two batters to get out of the inning unscathed.
Well, relatively unscathed.
