Daniel Murphy swatted away Chase Headley's attempt to tag him out

Daniel Murphy triples, swipes left on Headley's tag

In the bottom of the eighth inning of Friday night's Yankees-Mets game, Daniel Murphy smacked a ball out into center field. Jacoby Ellsbury tried valiantly to corral it, but it bounced off his glove, so Murphy decided to try for a triple.

Ellsbury made the throw to third baseman Chase Headley, but Murphy didn't want to get tagged out, so he treated Headley's glove as real-life Tinder and simply swiped left:

As you can see in the video above, Murphy did in fact beat the throw. Sorry, Headley's glove and Daniel Murphy -- you are not a match. He and his first triple of the season are already talking and they get along very well.
