President George W. Bush says Yogi Berra was an 'inspiration' for his use of the English language

Watch President Bush call Berra an 'inspiration'

Perhaps the only person more known for his unusual way with words than Yogi Berra was the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush. 

Just as Berra knew that baseball was "90 percent physical and the other half mental," President Bush knew how "hard it is for you to put food on your family." 

So, at a White House luncheon in March of 2001, President Bush jokingly said "Yogi's been an inspiration to me. Not only because of his baseball skills, but of course for the enduring mark he left on the English language." Bush then quipped, "Some of the press corps here think he might even be my speech writer." 

But that's just who Yogi was: Hall of Fame ballplayer, beloved figure and, yes, even an inspiration to the President.
