A single to center? Not today. Watch a rare 8-3 putout from the National Youth Baseball Championships

Watch rare 8-3 putout from the NYBC semifinal

Every now and then you'll catch a glimpse of the rare and elusive 9-3 putout, the right fielder gunning it to the first baseman in time for the out. The play has to be a perfect combination of hard-hit ball, perfect positioning and laser throw. Jose Bautista did it earlier this season. Then he did it again. In fact, it has only happened 19 times since 2000

But you never see the center fielder get in on the action -- until today. In the top of the 4th inning of the National Youth Baseball Championship semifinals, BPA DeMarini's Cameron Wheeler had a sure single to center field. Except San Gabriel Valley's center fielder Joseph Naranjo was there. And he wanted to show off his arm:

While it's unlikely that we'll see an 8-3 putout in the Majors anyime soon, Sean Casey was once thrown out by the left fielder. And I can almost guarantee that we won't see that again.
